Great Barton Scout Group have been very busy with many events over the last few months; these have included a Beveree (a day’s activities with Beavers from all over the Bury St Edmunds’ District), District Bowling Competition, Swimming Gala, a trip to LegoLand, District Christmas Campfire songs, a trip to Duxford Air Museum and Planet Laser. In addition, several Scouts completed an expedition hike, walking over 10 miles each day, creating their own shelters and sleeping under the stars on a very wet evening in November; they all survived and completed their Gold Scout Awards.

We try to give each section, as well as their weekly meeting, a chance to try as many different activities as possible.

As Scouts we are guided by:

Integrity – We act with integrity; we are honest, trustworthy and loyal.

Respect – We have self-respect and respect for others.

Care – We support others and take care of the world in which we live.

Belief – We explore our faiths, beliefs and attitudes.

Co-operation – We make a positive difference; we co-operate with others and make friends.

Beavers, Cubs and Scouts hiked from the Village Hall Car Park to Holy Innocents Church for the Remembrance Ceremony and parents joined us for the church service.

The group is thriving and we are always looking for adults to join us in running the sections; we offer a 4 week challenge with:

Week 1 – Come and see what we do

Week 2 – Help out

Week 3 – Get a little more involved

Week 4 – Decide if Volunteering with Scouts is for you

We offer full training and mentoring. If you are interested, please contact John Pitcher 01284 787787.
